About Us

Raised near the iconic Jamestown Lighthouse in Ghana, home to the world renowned “Chale Wate” street arts festival, Akweley grew up in the heart of the Accra. Helping her mother after school, selling local street food, and preparing meals for the family, Akweley found a sense of peace in not only working with food, but helping to ease the family pressures in what was at times a challenging environment.

After relocating to the states, she worked in restaurants and continued to develop a great passion for culinary arts, starting her own business in 2006 “South Mountain Crepes” offering vegetarian crepes to what now is quite a following at both the Stowe and Waitsfield farmers markets.

When asked why she has pursued a catering business, she says: “to me food is an art seeing the end product after putting ingredients together brings me joy, especially seeing people enjoy my food, it’s encouraging”.

Akweley aims to bring her culture into the Vermont food-scape, by offering catering services that have a taste of Ghana, made by hands that truly love to create beautiful meals for people.
